Freedom by Rayon Nelson
Freedom is the latest single by Rayon Nelson that will get you thinking about the injustices many young people are made to endure in this day and age. The song tells the plight of two very different worlds; that of the Ferguson unrest back in 2014 and that of a young refugee girl. Nelson’s has stated:
The song is about Freedom. I wrote it after being inspired and somewhat burdened to do something about the killing of young youths and also about young refugees. My mentality before was, I don’t have any money so I can’t do much… but I realised I could write a song! So this is a way of doing something!
Freedom is a very deep and powerful song and the composition of solemn tones along with a chorus chant reminiscent of the civil rights era, really adds an air of gravitas.
