Trafton has just released the touching, heartbreaking, tearjerker that is the song, ‘Gone‘. With a pared down instrumental backdrop that makes way for heartfelt lyrics of loss and lamentation, you have a song that is as delicate as a fragile soul after the storm has died down. Trafton is great at bringing to life an emotion be it through the first person or third person perspective. Here’s what Trafton had to say about ‘Gone‘:
Gone is a song of confusion, longing, and loss. It is realizing too late that you need something that isn’t there anymore. I wrote a lot of pain into this one and it’s quite personal, so I want to let the lyrics speak for themselves and allow my listeners to hear it in their own way.
That last part there is what separates the one hit wonders from the legends. Music speaks to us as well as gives us the words we can’t seem to find. This is an artist that understands you can craft a song that is personal while still leaving room for the listener to place themselves into your shoes. A song to one person can be of pain while to another person can be about love (Look up the controversy for ‘Every Breath You Take‘ by The Police, kids). Gone‘ is perfectly written to allow the audience to to feel every bit of pain and confusion but in their own unique way. I stan a brilliant songwriter, y’all!
