Different Kids by Post Rome
Post Rome released their first single of the year called, ‘Different Kids‘. The song reminisces on growing up as well as the ends and outs of becoming an adult. ‘Different Kids‘ takes that ever popular post punk sound and gives it a 2020 face lift. Modernizing the genre and making it their own, Post Rome have yet another hit on their hands! Here’s what the band had to say about ‘Different Kids‘:
‘Different kids’ is a song that stemmed from a lyric before anything else: “different kids learn at different rates, we caught on quick – don’t lie to your mates”. That lyric resonates a lot with us in terms of what it means. We’ve always had that attitude of being honest and open to each other, and understanding that, yeah we might make mistakes, but its only because of the whole learning process of learning to become adults.
From that line “Different Kids learn at different rates” we had a hook and ended up making a chorus that we thought bounced well. The verses are essentially reflecting on old memory’s, “Remember when we made memories on the cheap” is just about being young and having no money, but making some of the best memories of our lives. It brings out the purity of it all, being a part of this band has definitely enhanced how we perceive everything in day to day life.
Essentially that’s the process of life. We’re all different and our own evolutions aren’t necessarily on the same timeline as our peers. Still, there can be good times to be had.
