Ceara Cavalieri recently released the single, ‘Damn‘, which is about being in a relationship with a narcissist who has a God complex. I’ve got to say, it’s a bop! ‘Damn‘ expresses both the excitement of the relationship as well as the power of seeing a person for who they are and standing in your power. The emotive vocals are both suger sweet and formidable. The musical arrangement surrounds the vocals with upbeat bubble pop influences. All of which creates quite a catchy bop! I wrote this song about a guy that I was dating who turned out to be a complete narcissist and con artist. He thought he was the best thing ever, and that he could get away with anything, including lying to me and cheating. The song makes metaphorical references to religion and talks about how he thinks he is such a ‘god’ but his actions won’t be forgiven because he ‘isn’t my religion’.
