Waver by Anna Mae Kelly

Anna Mae Kelly recently released the single, ‘Waver‘. The song (which was inspired by a T.V. show) is about a toxic relationship where the toxicity erodes the foundation, causing the relationship to fall apart. ‘Waver‘ has a mid-tempo bop. The atmosphere gradually builds layers of different pop elements, with each layer building the tension. It’s the perfect backdrop to showcase Kelly’s emotive vocals as they exude the struggle and headache as the dark and chaotic lyrics tell the story. Here’s what Kelly had to say about ‘Waver‘:

Waver is about an abusive relationship where someone always plays the blame game, or shouts at the other. Waver is about a toxic relationship of blackmail, constant arguing, and pettiness. Where the stress, tension and anger build up so much causing the foundations of the couple to crumble, fall and eventually disappear.

I had the initial idea for Waver when watching one of my favourite shows, the couple I loved I watched gradually hate each other and fall apart, reminding me, nothing lasts forever.

Inspiration is all around us. To be able to take a show and turn it into a song is a great talent to have. I’m sure Kelly will have an amazing career that knows no boundaries and will reach into every aspect of the music industry and beyond! You can watch the music video for ‘Waver‘ down below.
