Fortress (feat. BÖBE) by Paperdeer
Paperdeer recently released the single, ‘Fortress‘, featuring BÖBE. The new single takes all the frustrations of the world’s problems we feel and provides the listener with a rallying cry for change. The atmosphere feels almost futuristic. It’s a little dark, mixed with cinematic synths, and twinkling electronic accents. BÖBE‘s warm vocals during the verses pulls the listener into this headspace of watching everything fall apart. Meanwhile the chorus gently takes the listener through the upper registers in a soft and delicate manner, giving the illusion of the mix of helplessness and frustration which flows through the lyrics. “The lyrics of Fortress can be interpreted in many ways. In my opinion, it is a cry for help. It is enough if you look around: climate change, COVID-19, and political tension are the things that we are faced with and also the burden of uncertainty that it suggests. In the middle of this chaos, I would just want to shout at the top of my lungs to make it stop and to seek meaningful changes otherwise, the consequences will be fatal”
