Esoteric Malacology by Slugdge
Slugdge released their fourth album Esoteric Malacology earlier this year which you should get. For those of you who don’t know, this band is a mix of blackend metal with a parody vibe. The bands specialty is writing songs about…slugs. The song titles parody popular song titles, like the 1st track ‘War Squids’ which is a play on ‘War Pigs‘ by Black Sabbath. Throughout the eight tracks we’re given a bit of everything blended together perfectly.
The singing is deep, guttural and at times melodic. The instrumentation is technical and atmospheric, all while under the blacked umbrella. This duo has a wide range of sound, what’s not to like! Don’t let the subject matter fool you, this is hard and heavy music and it’s spectacular. Have a listen below.
