Ambush Vin – Spotlight Feature Artist

Ambush Vin – Spotlight Feature Artist

Last month Ambush Vin dropped the banger ‘Visible‘ (which you can listen to below) and next month he’s set to drop a new EP. This is an artist with an immense amount of talent and style. So or course we just had to give him a full on feature! Without further ado let’s have a little chat with Ambush Vin, shall we?

1.) The opening obligatory question…Your music is extremely well written. It’s clear you’ve put a lot of time, energy and care into your music. How long have you been writing music?

I’ve been writing music for about 30 years, give or take. I was a poet before I was a rapper.. What’s crazy is, every rap I write, when I listen to it, I always say, “No way I’m topping this!” Then, I write some more bars, and end up doing exactly that. My goal is to constantly evolve and get better.

2.) What would you say is your driving force when it comes to music creation? What moves you?

Honestly, and this may sound arrogant, but my motivation comes from my quest to find my limitation. I don’t listen to many other artists. I’m moved by the challenge of crafting bars that come from a place that no rapper before me has been willing to go. I don’t care about fitting into the big picture of Hip-Hop. I care more about making music that is authentic and true to who I am

3.) What artists influence you?

You have to go back a lol bit for that, lol. Ice Cube, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, to name a few. There are a lot of artists from the late 80’s and 90’s who have influenced me in some way. There was so much creativity then, and I love artists who stepped outside from the main lane of Hip-Hop to create their own space! Nothing against today’s artists though. I will never hate, cause they getting’ paid. And I listen to all music. My favorite artists in today’s industry are: Kevin Gates, Tech N9ne, Gunna, that boy Joyner Lucas is super sick with it, and I definitely fux with G-Herbo too.

4.) If you could work with anyone alive or passed who would it be and why?

Oh, damn… I’d love the challenge of going bar for bar with Redman or Nas! I think I could hang, lol. I would love to do a track with Freddie Gibbs, he’s from the hometown and I actually know him. He’s come a long way and grinded hard, and it’s dope that he’s making big moves. Who else…Gates, of course, Buk from Psychodrama, as far as from the nerdier side of things, I would love to make a song with Front-a-lot, Sammus, of course Mega Ran…it’s so many dope artists out there!

5.) Any advice you want to give to anyone out there pursuing their dreams who may be influenced by you and your music?

Keep pushing! No matter what. I’m still pushing, as a matter of fact, I’m pushing harder than I ever have in my lifetime now, close to being middle-aged. There will be obstacles that will try to derail you, but no matter what, stay focused on your craft and your happiness.

6.) Open mic time – Anything you want to say to the listeners out there? (Upcoming projects/ Random thoughts/ Just “Hello”)

Be on the lookout for my next project, which should be coming to YouTube sometime in April, a cartoon music video for my song, “Final Arcade” created and animated by VT Clark. I’m dropping a new Star Wars EP for May the 4th, and of course, FandomTape Vol. II, coming in July!

I gotta shout-out my wife, Tasha, first of all, cause she was the first one to encourage me to just do me when it comes to my music, and don’t care what anyone else thinks about it. I gotta thank my Abnormal Camp: Aramis, Jack Danielz, Thrax King, my son Devo the Drummer Boy, and Tony Terantino – look out for some flame from all of them this year. All of my SciFinatik Fam, and my N.W.O. fam, my fam Allen Dukes shows me so much support and love over there, and you guys here at The Music Below for the support and love you’ve shown me!

No amount of words can fully express this level of talent and no amount of words could ever explain such an interesting, caring, boss, dope, and humbled human being. We should all be so lucky to meet such a individual in our lifetime. With that said, we’d like to thank Ambush Vin for taking the time to answer our questions. We know he’s a very busy man!

Below are a few of our favorite tracks. So drop below, listen then go buy the entire collection like I did because it’s dope! As always, if you like what you hear then let’s keep good music coming by supporting these artists. Remember to follow the artist and spread the word! Artists Links below.
