Three Songs by Brianna Kocka
Earlier this month Brianna Kocka released the beautifully heartfelt, three track EP, ‘Three Songs‘. The songs on the EP deal with love, loss, and grief. ‘Three Songs‘ starts off with the upbeat love song ‘Kindness‘ which is about that special someone who exceeds all of your expectations. It’s catchy and the kind of song you’ll find yourself singing along with. Next up is, ‘Get Home to You‘, which is all about being away from the one you love. They say, “home is where the heart is”, and this song personifies that sentiment. Before we get into the last song, here’s a bit of background information from the website:
Brianna Kočka is a singer-songwriter from Minneapolis, MN. She has shared the stage with Marc Cohn, The Cult, and has had her music featured on General Hospital and 20/20. Evoking the instrumentation and mournful harmonies of Americana pioneers Gillian Welch and Alison Krauss, as well as the classic Country vibes of Nashville in an earlier time, her songs are both autobiographical and fantasy, documents of facing phantoms, and fleeing them.
In 2019 Brianna released her second solo album, Three Songs, an autobiographical look at love, loss, and grief. Her previous album of traditional folk songs, “Dreamlife,” was released in 2018 on Suntanman Records. Brianna spends most of her time touring, but when home in Minneapolis she can be found in the studio recording new songs, as well as playing electric guitar in the indie rock band Zoo Animal.
Lastly is a song with brilliant lyrical storytelling and soaring melodies, ‘Where Our Time Doesn’t End‘. It’s a heartbreaking song of loss where you can feel the pain in Brianna’s emotive vocals. This is a great little EP to add to your collection! From start to finish each song is memorable and the EP leaves you wanting more.
