Singer songwriter, Yva, recently released the single ‘I Won’t Wait‘ which is about not waiting around for someone who leads you on. There’s a smooth attitude the song has that will send chills down your spine. It’s a whole mood! The song starts of with a gentle atmosphere then continues to grow in its power. It’s part R&B, Soul, Jazz, Rock and simply, a banger. Here’s what Yva had to say about ‘I Won’t Wait‘
“[It] was written out of frustration that this guy kept leading me on and then binning me off, and I kept giving him chances because something about him had me forgiving him. I think I knew he was special, even if he was acting like a total dickhole at the time. I was obviously right, because we ended up coming back into each others lives six years ago, and haven’t looked back since.
It was seven years before I had the courage to play with I Won’t Wait again, though. Re-arranging it and turning it into something far beastlier than its acoustic predecessor was a total joy because it came at a time when I had jacked in writing to other peoples’ expectations of me. It was very much something I put on myself, I think and the idea of not waiting around for fear of someone defining you wrong, or dictate your life’s work, just felt momentous.”
