Bitter Memory by Rob Kovacs

Bitter Memory by Rob Kovacs

A few days ago, Rob Kovacs released the single, ‘Bitter Memory‘, a song about permanently closing the doors to the past relationships that are in some way or form detrimental. However, sometimes no matter how strong your conviction is, you may waver and falter. in ‘Bitter Memory‘ there is this motif that plays out throughout the song, acting as a soft of barrier between Kovacs and said love interest. However, when that guitar solo kicks in tensions rise before ultimately softening and letting those walls down. The production is masterful. It takes Kovacs’ strong yet vulnerable vocals and places them just out of reach on the other side of that barrier. Yet, when the vocals come back in after the guitar solo, they are laid bare in absolute vulnerability, front and center. Oh, but that twist at the end of the song was rather brilliant! Here’s what Kovacs had to say about the upcoming album ‘Let Go‘:

“I look at songs as snapshots of where you are in life,” Kovacs says. “Who you were then makes you who you are today. So even though it’s been a long time since I wrote them, these songs are definitely part of who I am. I haven’t completely discarded who I was then.”

It’s no secret that over the past few months I’ve become a huge supporter of Kovacs music. It’s vivid, passionate and all together timeless. It feels fresh and new, yet at the same time, like something that could have been a hit decades ago. Above all it is unequivocally and uniquely Kovacs. I look forward to one day being able to attend a concert and experiencing the music in live form. I’m sure it’ll be quite the experience. You can listen to ‘Bitter Memory‘ down below.
