‘Like You Do‘ is the latest single by the London based, Finnish artist, Sätilä. The song is about being unable to receive love from someone who you feel is a better person than you are. It can often be difficult to accept love when we feel unworthy of a love that is greater than we think we deserve and ‘Like You Do‘ expresses this emotion through gentle and vulnerable vocals over an upbeat pop melody. When I was a kid I listened to a lot of mainstream pop and as a teenager I got into alternative and indie rock. I feel like that has shaped me more than I thought it did. I know people say indie rock has had its moment but I’m just not sure. It still makes me feel. I think there is room for all sorts of music so why restrict people’s expression just because it’s not a trend and if it still makes people feel something.
Music will always find a fan base no matter what is popular at the moment. It’s all about telling your story and being able to connect with someone else, so it never truly matters what genre a song is. Eighties music had long since had its moment yet the sounds that pioneered that era made it back into the current soundscape. When music makes you feel something there are no boundaries!
