Pink Noise by Natalie Holmes
Okay, so why has no one told me about Natalie Holmes before? While searching the internet I came across this artist and the single ‘Pink Noise‘ and immediately fell in love! Seriously, there was a physical copy release and I was a week late to the party. Holmes has releases dating back to 2011! My frustrations on being late to the party aside, I had a wonderful time jumping down the rabbit hole and making everyone I know fall in love with her music as well.
Okay, so let’s talk about ‘Pink Noise‘. Besides being well written, the phrasing choices make the song pop and give it an edge that sets it apart and above what’s being done currently. This is a song about insomnia that perfectly depicts both sonically and lyrically what it’s like. It’s a big reason why it floored me from the start. The chaos, the ups and downs, the longing to be able to sleep, everything was spot on. Yet, it is done in a very creative manner. Certainly not your typical song about insomnia.
I’m excited to see what the future has in store for Holmes.
