Vultures by Eddy Lee Ryder

Eddy Lee Ryder recently released the single, ‘Vultures‘, (off the album ‘Expected to Fly‘) alongside an accompanying music video. The song is about people who prey on others, using them until there is nothing left and the aftereffects of those actions. ‘Vultures‘ is a somber and painful song. The vulnerability of the vocals breathes life into this gut wrenching tale. The musical arrangement matching the emotions of the vocals step for step. ‘Vultures‘ is a song you’re going to feel. Here’s what Ryder had to say about the ‘Vultures‘:

“which represent men in my life who have torn pieces of me away, little by little, the way that vultures do,” Ryder says. “Around the start of the #MeToo movement, I was involved with a guy I thought wouldn’t treat me the way other men in the past had. As the story goes, he ended up treating me worse. He was slowly taking from me, and I felt picked apart. Once I realized that, I wrote the song in about ten minutes.”

The experience behind ‘Vultures‘ is unfortunately all too common. I’m sure the song will give voice to many of my readers. ‘Vultures‘ is the type of song where you feel the artist’s pain as your own. Being able to pull off that kind of songwriter is truly the mark of a brilliant songwriter. You can watch the music video for ‘Vultures‘ down below.
