Andrew Rothschild recently released the three song EP, ‘Yorros‘. The EP is the down tempo ambient version of an apology and I’d say that description makes since after hearing it. However, it’s not a simple apology, the three songs (‘Yorros‘, ‘Nature Therapy‘, and ‘Lokta‘) have a great deal of complexity. As if to mimic the stages of an apology the lead song starts out with a bit of tension. Giving you that anxiety and awkwardness of knowing you should apologize. ‘Nature Therapy‘ is that ease of tension into healing. Meanwhile, ‘Lokta‘ has an atmosphere of healing to freedom. It’s a bit more upbeat, as if a burden has been lifted, yet, hints of the pain remain in the dark and mysterious parts of the song. A lot of emotion went into making ‘Yorros‘ and it shows! Here’s what Rothschild had to say about the EP ‘Yorros‘:
“Yorros was actually a song that was about expressing your apologies/condolences but not knowing how to properly put it into words. The name ‘Yorros’ itself was actually something I came about the first day which I meant as sorry backwards, then later realized I added an extra o subconsciously and just ended up running with it down the road. It was something I was a tad insecure to release because it’s so emotionally raw and vulnerable. There’s some songs you make for fun, songs to get people moving, and then there’s songs you make which practically can be considered an intimate journal post. In that case, I think a lot of people can relate in some way since everyone has been sorry about something one way or another. If that be someone is having a hard time and you just want to be there for them, or you personally did something to someone and you just want to apologize — everyone has been there. This is practically a ‘I’m sorry’ letter written through a song.”
Indeed everyone has been there! ‘Yorros‘ is certainly an ep everyone can relate with. You can listen to the single ‘Yorros‘ down below.
