Cf Watkins just released the single and corresponding music video for, ‘Come Around‘, which is off the ‘Babygirl‘ album that was released earlier this year. ‘Come Around‘ is about wanting to help someone with an addiction and feeling helpless in being able to help. The music video for ‘Come Around‘ is minimalistic yet conveys this sentiment well. In the video the scenes go back and forth between darkness and light. In the light room Watkins looks on pensively as the other version is being consumed by the darkness. Towards the end we see the darkness encroach upon the light and a sense of complete helplessness as the dark version is completely consumed. I love how this was shot! It not only does a great job of bringing the lyrics to life but also plays a secondary role of an inner struggle. Here’s what Watkins had to say about ‘Come Around‘:
“‘Come Around’ is about addiction, and watching someone you love not being able to show up for themself or for the people they love,” Watkins says. “The helpless feeling of wishing you could pull someone out of their own shadow.”
‘Come Around‘ is both a powerful song and one many people will relate with. Watkins certainly has a way with words! You can watch the music video for ‘Come Around‘ down below.
