Let Go by Rob Kovacs

Let Go by Rob Kovacs

The day has finally arrived, folks! Rob Kovacs solo album, ‘Let Go‘ is now available and I have to say, it’s quite the masterpiece. Now if you’ve been following along, you’ll know that we previously reviewed the first three singles (‘Here in the Future‘, ‘Fizzle‘, and ‘Bitter Memory‘). ‘Let Go‘ was worth the wait. It’s rare to find full albums with so much thought, care, and intention these days. Kovacs has brought the fullness and richness of his artistry to the table. Alright now let’s get into it!

The album starts off with the intro, ‘Phade‘, which provides a nice taste of what’s to come and perfectly melds into ‘Fizzle‘. ‘Fizzle‘ is a song that expresses the anxiety one feels when falling in love. Next up, ‘Momentary Bliss‘, slows things down in stark contrast to ‘Fizzle‘. With a delicate progression of softly drifting away ‘Momentary Bliss‘ captures those precious moments and throws those feelings in slow motion. After that comes, ‘Reach You‘, a heartfelt and passionate song that deals with the difficulties of wanting to be with someone who already has ties.

As we make our way to the second half of the album we’re welcomed by the palate cleanser, ‘Interlude‘ which offers a nice transition from the gentleness of the two previous songs. ‘Here in the Future‘ brings us to the ending of a relationship and the hesitation over whether or not there will be regrets in the future. I have to say Kovacs certainly has a knack for taking emotions and turning them into compositions of sound. Next up is, ‘Should-Haves‘, a song that starts off slow and gentle with just vocals and piano. It slowly builds to a brighter sound, as the lyrics go from regret to acceptance.

After that is, ‘Reprise‘, a short instrumental that brightens the melody that ‘Should-Haves‘ ended on and softens it, as if to finally say goodbye to the relationship. It’s also the perfect set up for the last song on the album, ‘Bitter Memory‘. The last song is all about permanently closing the door on a relationship that has taken its toll on you. If you’ve been following along with the previous reviews, then you’re aware of the interesting little twist at the end of the song. It’s a true testament to the trajectory of relationships.

Let Go‘ certainly shows how a relationship can start off with a burst of passion yet ultimately be ill-fated. Kovacs opens the doors and allows us to go on that wild ride with him. ‘Let Go‘ is a masterpiece. Look, I am just a person trying to share my love of all the wonderful music out there with as many people as possible. I think we all should. You’ll find no flurry of well crafted words, brilliantly laid analogies about any music I review. However, even if I were one of those wordsmith reviewers anything I’d write would simply pale in comparison to Kovacs’ artistry. Just listen to the music. You don’t need anyone to tell you what only Kovacs can tell your soul, the very fibers of your being, through his compositions. You can watch the music video for ‘Reach You‘ down below.
