Yearnings by Minru
The six track EP Yearnings by Minru was released last week and the overall feel to it is a beautiful darkness mixed with vivid imagery and storytelling. When you look at the storytelling, it is very much driven by using nature in metaphors. I don’t know what to say other than this style works will in this presentation. It pairs well with the airy, light vocals which, keeping with the nature metaphor, is like a warm breeze.
All in all the ‘Yearnings’ EP is very well done. The production is of professional quality and the storytelling is intriguing. The whole ‘Yearnings’ EP gives the feeling that this EP was a well thought out project and not just a handful of singles (nothing wrong with that). There is a lot to be said about songs that connect to each other, it’s the difference between reading one chapter and a whole book.
