Trip by Areté
The new single ‘Trip‘ by Areté is an experimental pop song which deals with the pressing issues of Dissociative Identity Disorder (previously known as Multiple Personality Disorder) as well as a toxic relationship and the damage that incurs from the combination of both issues. The artistry of the song perfectly portrays it’s message. Musically, as you go from verse to chorus it’s almost as if during the verse you’re in safe mode. However, as the beat begins to grow stronger it sounds as a warning sign right before the chorus kicks in with it’s near alarming sounds, as if to say “you’re in the danger zone now”. Here is a snippet from the press release about the music video for ‘Trip ‘:
the video takes viewers on a ride through the life of an individual that deals with multiple personality disorder after a toxic relationship forces her into this state of distress. Paralleled with a hallucinogenic trip, the music video gives and accurate description of how multiple personality disorder can affect one’s daily life.
Personally, I love the way the video came together. It’s visually intriguing and really draws you in as all the different identities reveal themselves. A lot of thought and care went into the production on this song from start to finish and it shows! You can watch the music video for ‘Trip ‘ down below.
