Ella by Esmé is a big mood and let me tell you why you should go and add it to your playlist. The song’s theme is at the core of what makes music so special and grand, it’s the connection between artist and listener. If you’ve ever had an song or musician that just got you or sung the words you couldn’t find for yourself, then you’ll understand the special connection music can make. Ella is essentially that. It is a song that was inspired by the late great Ella Fitzgerald. Here is what Esmé had to say about the song:

I was always drawn to a certain kind of jazz voice growing up, Esmé reveals, a breathy sound that almost seems fragile, but it isn’t, and often reminiscent of a horn instrument, like Chet Baker. Listening to voices like Ella Fitzgerald always took me to a lighter place when I was young; this song kind of pays homage to that feeling, and to her.

Ella  is a bop for sure. Paying homage to those that came before you and inspired you is always a great way to keep music alive. Plus, it has the added benefit of helping others discover music they might not have known existed. With a heartfelt appreciation for Ella Fitzgerald’s music, how it’s helped and been a friend and guide, and with a nice groove that will get you moving, there’s no real reason not to hop down below and what the lyric video.
