Say You Believe by Midnight Divide
Midnight Divide recently released their Alt Rock anthem, ‘Say You Believe‘, which is about having hope that you can overcome your flaws and obstacles in order to become who you want to be. Now that is an anthem I can get behind! Let’s face it, we’re all feed the notion that somehow we are flawed and therefore unworthy, however, those so called flaws make us unique so that we have something different to offer or add to the collective known as humanity. Something all our own, born of our unique collection of experiences and without them songs like ‘Say You Believe‘ wouldn’t exist. What a shame that would be because I’m sure someone out there needs to hear this song. Here’s what frontman Austen Moret had to say:
I think I’ve found over the years that music is really the best way I’m able to cope and express myself in a way that feels honest and real. Somehow you always find the best things to say way after the fact. I hope this music inspires someone to feel ok about feeling conflicted. That emotions don’t play by the rules and aren’t limited to one at a time, and that’s ok. You’re able to work through that and be a little fucked up about it.
Moret makes a valid point in that it’s ok to be conflicted and our emotions don’t play by the rules. Emotions are complex and as a society we don’t teach people who to deal with them. Which makes songs like Say You Believe‘ important because, music in general, has a way of helping people no matter what their situation is. Anyway you look at it, ‘Say You Believe‘ is a powerful song which is why I’m calling it an anthem. It works on so many levels and is able to give a voice to people who aren’t sure how to express this particular emotion. You can listen to Say You Believe‘ down below.
