Reasonable Lie by Soft Streak
Reasonable Lie is the newest electropop song by the duo Soft Streak. The song is about staying in a relationship, perhaps a bit too long, when there is more bad than good to be had. Instead of leaving you choose to lie to yourself and each other, perhaps because it’s easier. Sonically, Reasonable Lie does a great job at portraying those emotions. It really encapsulates the atmosphere of those moments towards the end of a relationship that isn’t going anywhere. The video for Reasonable Lie is interesting as well. According to the press release:
The duo created a fitting vintage style music video for the song. Inspired by the 1975 arthouse film, Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, the visuals show the monotonous daily routine of a housewife.
I really loved how they had a vision and saw it through. From the lyrics, to the music, all the way to the video, they were able to encapsulate the listener in this one moment.
